Nickel Copper Alloy 500 Round Bar

Also known as UNS N05500, nickel alloy 500 is considered one of the best-performing nickel-copper alloys on the market. This product doubles the tensile strength and triples the yield strength of nickel alloy 400, thanks to the incorporation of significant proportions of titanium and aluminum.

Performance Characteristics

Specific performance characteristics of nickel alloy 500 include:

  • Maintenance of tensile & yield strength properties in conditions as hot as 650° C (1200° F)
  • Maintenance of ductility properties in cryogenic temperatures as low as -250° C (-400° F)
  • Excellent spark resistance
  • Outstanding corrosion resistance when exposed to alkaline materials, salts & non-oxidizing acidic substances
  • Superior strength & durability

One of the alloy's most unique characteristics comes from the fact that it remains non-magnetic in temperatures above -125° C (-200° F). This makes nickel-copper alloy 500 round bars ideal for performance conditions in which magnetic fields cause potential disruptions to the normal functioning of electronic equipment and components.

Standard Finishes

Nickel alloy 500 is available in two standard finishes: mill-aged (also known as "hardened" or "aged"), and annealed. Mill-aged variants are stronger, with increased physical thresholds. Additional specifications are available for unusually demanding field conditions.

Industries

While nickel alloy 500 has a broad range of potential uses, it is most commonly seen in the following industries:

Nickel Alloy 500 excels under the demands of chemical processing and transportation applications and is used as a base component for oil and gas extraction systems and equipment.
