September 2021 Nickel & Surcharge Update
September 2021 Update
Thanks for reading the Ram Alloys Monthly Nickel and 316L s/c update, intended to help our valued customers make educated business decisions.
316L s/c Hits 10 Year High...AGAIN:
- September 101` 316L s/c = $1.51/lb.
- Although October is projecting flat, we expect more increases in November and December
Current Take
August average Ni price remained steady; however, drastic decrease in Ni stock will result in rising Ni prices. See charts below. In theory, a drop in Ni stock indicates strong Ni demand. That said; its questionable, at best, that traditional economics apply in today's world.
Small positive for historically high prices: it drives mining investment. See article below. Additional supply should curb future inflation, and possibly spectator manipulation.
Molybdenum Spit Price update:
- Pricing has not only rebounded, it's surging.
Metal users again petition for section 232 relief. Although the current Administration has their hands full, a trade deal with historically strong allies could a much needed PR boost.
